If you’re looking for a career path that’s right for you, be aware that the word “career” itself might be getting in your way. There are different types of career: traditional careers are those where we apply, then do that job for a lifetime, get a pension and retire. There are vocational careers where you qualify in a particular field (medicine, teaching, law, science) and pursue that job even if it turns into different areas within that field.
But there are new careers these days: a lot of people are looking at portfolio careers where they do a little bit of a range of things and explore both employment as well as passive sources of income, like renting out a property on Airbnb or trading bitcoin or on the stock market. Property is a major field for a lot of people these days.
Don’t get stuck on the word career if it limits your path. Explore a range of ways to bring in your income and call it a portfolio career.
