It was very distressing to read about this latest report on sexual misconduct in the tutoring industry - people posing as tutors to gain one-to-one access to students in a confined space. It's truly disturbing for me personally because I take my job as a tutor very seriously and protecting the welfare of children is a major motivation in my role.
That said, I'm so glad it has brought attention to the vulnerabilities students might face online so that any prospective issues can be properly legislated against. We are still learning about the murky waters of online behaviour but stories like these bring to light the dangers to governments.
